Screen Chips are IMI accredited windscreen repairers. We have undergone approved training by the "Institute of Motor Industry", and follow a strict process that is recognised as the most effective way to repair a damaged windscreen.
After the visual inspection of the damaged area is crucial, we check and advise on the repair process whilst establishing which Zone is affected. Clean and examine the damaged area ensuring the ideal conditions are in place for a optimum repair to be achieved, Screen temperature is crucial which we monitor with our heat lamp.
Remove any loose glass and ensure the area is free to receive the resin. The drill is used to loosen debris from the Chip impact crater prior to the repair, allowing a clear penetration of resin into the break. A IPA spray is applied to remove excess moisture and sanitary conditions for an effective repair.
The ergonomically designed bridge fixes to the screen over the damage site. The arm can be moved to ensure it is in the perfect position.It can also be moved during the repair to give clear vision of the damage without affecting the repair process. Once we have ensured that the connection is air tight we inject 0.25ml of resin into the chip, and create a high pressure vacuum and leave for 3 minutes
We slowly reduce the vacuum and this will cause any air pockets to be filled with the resin. This can be seen by small black lines disappearing ,we then reapply the pressure for another 3 minutes.
Using a high quality pit fill resin applied under an acetate sheet, Cured in 75 seconds with the LED lamp. LED curing ensures the resin cures evenly through the break, giving a strong, clear finish.
We remove the excess pit fill using a razor blade with a process that will leave your repair perfectly smooth and back to its original strength then finished off with a glass polish
